This is an updated, yet still classic, craftsman home plan. As in much of our work, this plan seeks to fit seamlessly among its historic bungalow neighbors while pushing the envelope of modern, open plan living. The roofline of this home feels fine among one story or other two-story homes while the front and back dormers maximize the amount of livable space upstairs. The front porch steps lead to a centrally located front door. Off to the left is a real room sized covered porch that allows for a full comfortable couch and even a few Adirondacks: a perfect place to entertain the neighbors or just curl up with your phone and a pet. In the foyer there is room for an accent piece and a drop off zone to the right. An office/flex room is to the right and a guest suite to the right. This plan also includes a media room that can be shut away with pocket doors, the kids can play games or the adults can watch them away from others when needed. A side mudroom on a typical narrow lot allows access from the back and front of the lot, the side stairs can go either or both directions. The back living space really opens up nicely in a perfect L-configuration with a grand, 9’ long island as focal point. Access to the screened porch can be through a large sliding door system or a more traditional French door/ window configuration. When entertaining, this open configuration really allows for good movement between the spaces. The more modern, full glass window in the back of the dining room really connects the space to the back yard living space. Upstairs, there is a good-sized master suite and two more large bedrooms. A generous laundry area could also double as a crafts room.
